Custom FAQs

Custom art is a great way to show your support of a small business while also showing your own style. Ordering a custom art means I am creating a personalized piece of art that couples my style as a fiber artist with your color/style taste. All my pieces are one-of-a-kind but a custom piece is particularly special because I create with your style in mind. Custom art is also great to give as gifts!

Reach out to me either via my inquiry form on this page or by emailing me at goodlandloom@gmail.com
I’ll share a “tell me more” form asking more questions about what you’re looking for in a piece. This will include any inspiration photos, colors you like, etc. In addition, I’ll also let you know more about pricing and payment.
Once you fill out the “tell me more” form, I’ll go through it and make sure what you’re looking for is something I can create. After I will review your answers, I will let you know the price and timeline for your custom piece.
If you agree to move forward, then 50% of the custom order will be invoiced to you
I will gather a color palette and design and share with you before I begin working on your item. At this time, you can let me know if there are any colors I am missing.
Then the making begins! I’ll work on your custom piece.
When your item is finished, I will request the remaining 50% + shipping payment. (If you’re local to Milwaukee, local pickup/delivery may be available).
Your item will be shipped to you and you can enjoy your one-of-a-kind, handmade woven item!

The price of a custom tapestry will vary depending on factors like size, shape, technique, and material.
To estimate the cost* of a custom art piece, I share this formula:
$50 + $1/square inch, not including fringe
+$25-$50 for fringe depending size and layers
For work that is depicting a scene, where I am creating a scene based off of a photo or image, the above formula will be adjusted for $1.50/square inch due to the nature of the detailed work.
Example A:
Your budget is $500.You could get a custom….
1) 20”x 20” tapestry with fringe2) 40” x 10” tapestry with fringe
3) A 25” x 18” nature scene tapestry, no fringe
Example B:
Your budget is $300.You could get a custom….
1) a 10” x 25” rectangle tapestry no fringe
2) a 16” circular tapestry, no fringe ($251)
3) a 16” x 15” tapestry with fringe ($290)
*Subject to change and final cost will be shared with individual before any work is started. Shipping is an additional cost. For Milwaukee-area orders, pickup/delivery may be available.

Depending on the size of the piece, custom work can take 1-3 months. If you are looking to have your item in-hand by a certain date, please reach out. Depending on my schedule I may be able to accomodate!

Like all my artwork, a custom piece is nonreturnable and nonrefundable. I take time at the start of a custom piece to get to know your desires to ensure a piece you love. And when you order a custom piece of art, you are offering your trust to me and my artistic style.

No, I do not copy or duplicate the work of other fiber artists. I am happy to use my own work and/or photos or images as references.

A custom weaving is a great gift idea! If you are ordering a custom piece as a gift but don’t know what the person will like, you can prepay for a store credit or custom order. Please reach out to me for more details by emailing me at goodlandloom@gmail.com or filling out the custom order inquiry form.

My tapestries tend to fall into a few categories:
1) an ombre tapestry2) a non-ombre tapestry
3) a tapestry that is depicting a scene from nature (ex: a mountain at sunset, a coastal beach and ocean, etc.)
4) Other! (Circular tapestries, experimental, etc.)
But like many artists, my craft continues to expand and experiment so if you have questions on style, please reach out to me!
